It seems rare for busy communities to get together and pause for a “what if?” conversation but Mannix College was lucky to do so on Tuesday this week last night at our first Meet the Principal event.
Joined by a small group of current students, alumni and friends who have lived, tutored at, worked for, advocated for, or governed Mannix through every decade in its existence, we considered all that has made Mannix special and how the College might evolve.
We talked about our current and future students and how we could meet their needs.
We explored the expanding pressures on young adults, the challenges of mental health, issues of study and employability, and the chasms students cross into university and college life and then to their lives beyond.
We considered how our global alumni community can maintain an active presence in the daily life of the College, and in the lives of each other for mutual benefit.
We explored how the Mannix Foundation could continue to help us open the College to talented students who may previously have settled for something less, somewhere else, because of their financial circumstances.
We asked: what if? how might we? why do we? when could we?
It was a wonderful evening of ideas and connections. And we look forward to more as we build our strategic future.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and, everyone who worked behind the scenes to help make the event such a success.
