Mannix College transformed into a vibrant hub of nostalgia and joy on November 25 as over 130 alumni, current residents, and guests gathered for the Gryphon Gala. This event was not merely a reunion; it was a jubilant journey through the rich history and bright future of Mannix, embodying the spirit of Mannix through the years.

A Stroll Down Memory Lane

The Gala was a festive carousel of activities that sparked a delightful sense of déjà vu among the attendees. Alumni embarked on guided tours, reliving cherished moments as they revisited their old dorms, now poignant symbols of their formative years. The halls also showcased a curated photo exhibition, weaving a visual narrative of Mannix’s evolution, balancing change with cherished traditions.

Milestone Reunions

The event marked significant anniversaries for 1973, 1983, 1993, 2003, and 2013 cohorts. These reunions were more than gatherings; they were heartfelt celebrations of lifelong friendships and shared experiences. Alumni indulged in storytelling, reflecting on their transformative journeys at Mannix, accompanied by a rich tapestry of photographs from their college days.

Dinner and Melodies in the Dining Hall

The Dining Hall resonated with laughter and camaraderie as attendees savoured a sumptuous three-course meal. The Old Collegian band further enlivened the evening, whose melodies stirred a sea of memories. The atmosphere was electric, reminiscent of the excitement of a first-year move-in day.

They also outlined exciting future projects for Mannix, inviting alumni to contribute to the college’s legacy of lifelong learning.

The growing scholarship program at Mannix was also showcased, illustrating the transformative impact of alumni contributions on scholarship students, turning financial aid into life-changing opportunities.

Dancing into the Future

The Gala’s crescendo was in the Junior Common Room (JCR), where alumni danced and reminisced, echoing the vibrant college life of their youth. This joyous conclusion symbolised the enduring bond and shared history of the Mannix community.

A Night to Remember

The Gryphon Gala was more than an event; it was a testament to Mannix College’s commitment to nurturing leaders and innovators. It underscored the vital role of the alumni community in shaping Mannix’s future.

As we bid farewell to a memorable night, we warmly invite all alumni to the grand 50th celebration of coeducation at Mannix College on November 23, 2024. This event promises to be another milestone in the college’s proud history.
