Gryphon Gala
The Gryphon Gala is the destination for alumni reunions and connections. Held annually, all alumni can attend but cohorts celebrating their 10, 20, 30, 40 or 50 years milestones are specifically invited to host their reunions on the night. Our prestigious alumni awards will also be announced at the event.
In 2023, residents of 2013, 2003, 1993, 1983, and 1973 will celebrate their reunions at the Gryphon Gala on Saturday, November 25 2023 from 6-11pm at Mannix College.
Tickets will be available for purchase later in the year so stay tuned for details. If you have questions about the event, please contact mannix.alumni@monash.edu.
Learn more about the Gala
On October 1, 2022 more than 100 alumni and friends gathered for the inaugural Gryphon Gala in the Mannix Dining Hall. The event offered a night of connection, celebration and dancing. Some hadn’t seen one another in years. Others hadn’t been back to College since they left. Memories and fun were shared by all with thanks to a live band, roaming magician and wonderful hospitality provided by the College catering team.
“The Gala is our way of connecting and celebrating all that makes our College community special. We are thrilled that this first Gala has enjoyed support from so many in our community and we’re excited to grow the event in the coming years” – Principal Andrew Swan
The Gala was supported by the Mannix Foundation Council, Old Collegians Association, and the College Students Society. As part of the event, winners of the inaugural Mannix College Awards were announced. The awards recognise alumni and staff who have demonstrated excellence and service to their profession and community. In 2022, the winners were:
- Connie Neilson: Staff Recognition Award
- Mandhree Ekanayake: Rising Star Alumni Award
- Jason Clymo: Outstanding Alumni Award
- Tony Johnson: Distinguished Alumni Award
“Being a part of the Mannix community as a rural student spending my first few years in the big city was incredibly grounding, and gave me a life-long community of friends that truly set me on my path.” – Mandhree Ekanayake
“I think all of us can agree that this place is pretty special. Sounds corny but the two years that I spent here, actually completely changed my life. I became more confident in myself and that gave me permission to discover myself.” – Jason Clymo
In recognition of our community of donors whose generous contributions enable the College to offer needs-based scholarships, Foundation Council Chair, Mark Freeman, unveiled the first ever Donor Honour Board which now has pride of place in the Dining Hall.
The College thanks all Gala guests for making this year’s event such a success. We look forward to announcing the date of the next Gala – stay tuned!
