Celebrating Academic Excellence

In late August, Mannix College proudly celebrated the achievements of 58 residents who excelled academically in the Semester 1, 2025 study period.
At a special Academic Awards Formal Dinner—attended by residents, Academic Guides, staff, and esteemed guests—the College presented the prestigious Knox Scholarships to nine of the highest-performing residents in their faculties, and recognised 49 students with Academic Excellence Awards for attaining a High Distinction average.
Notably, the average grade of Mannix residents is a Distinction—well above the overall Monash University average—highlighting both the calibre of our students and the supportive academic environment cultivated within the College.

A New Tradition
This year also marked the beginning of a new tradition: the Academic Award Winners’ Portrait. Inspired by classic academic photographs yet given a creative Mannix twist, the award recipients gathered in the College Library for a striking portrait to commemorate their achievements. The setting highlighted the connection between scholarship, tradition, and community, while offering a fresh take on celebrating academic excellence.
Supporting Student Success
The College is deeply committed to fostering academic achievement. Each Tuesday evening during semester, residents can access in-person academic workshops and subject-specific support through our Academic Guides and Mentors program. These initiatives strengthen the bridge between College life and the learning resources of Monash University, ensuring residents are supported to reach their academic goals.
Mannix congratulates all award recipients—and indeed, all residents—on their academic efforts and progress. Achievements like these reflect the high standards, determination, and vibrant intellectual spirit that define our College community.
The Knox Scholarships
The Knox Scholarships are named in memory of Cardinal James Robert Knox, Archbishop of Melbourne from 1967–1974, who blessed and laid the College’s foundation stone on 23 May 1968. Each year, the scholarships are awarded to the highest-performing resident in each faculty, with recipients also receiving a $750 prize, generously supported by the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne.
