Mannix College has been officially recognised as an Advanced Workplace in the Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Australia Workplace Recognition Program — a national acknowledgement of our commitment to fostering a mentally healthy college environment.

This recognition reflects years of focused work to ensure students and staff are equipped not only to look after their own mental health, but to support others in times of need. Through structured MHFA training, Mannix has built a strong network of residents, staff, and leaders who are confident in recognising signs of mental distress and responding with compassion and care.

“We know that university life can be a time of great growth — and sometimes great challenge,” said Principal Andrew Swan. “This recognition affirms the practical, person-centred work we’ve done to support wellbeing at Mannix. Our training programs are part of a broader commitment to building a safe, caring, and trauma-informed residential community.”

Mental Health First Aid is now embedded into the fabric of life at Mannix — not only as a one-off training, but as an essential part of Resident Advisor (RA) onboarding, staff professional development, and our response framework for student wellbeing. Our team takes a proactive, prevention-focused approach to student support, ensuring that everyone in our community has access to the tools, resources, and relationships that help them thrive.

Mannix joins a growing list of organisations across Australia committed to MHFA principles — with a particular focus on reducing stigma, enhancing early intervention, and creating cultures of safety and inclusion.

This Advanced Workplace recognition is valid for two years, with Mannix eligible to pursue the highest tier of recognition thereafter.
